I am not seen for what I am, yet I define what you appear. I am born whole, but never stay the same. What am I?

To eat me one must first undress me. Spin me around until I'm nude, then lick my top till my head you consume. If you want a spongey treat, then my body you will eat.

I start every meal with a pile of food, but I don't have a mouth, so I don't eat. Still I'm empty at the end of the meal, without teeth that's no small feat!
