I start as a treasure buried by a friend, Who forgets where I am, but that’s not my end. I wear a small cap that I never take off, Even when winds make the giant trees cough. I am a castle in a tiny brown shell, Waiting to break through the ground where I fell. Though I am small now, a squirrel's quick prize, A mighty green oak from my body will rise.

Hangs from a tree to give it style Then falls to the ground to be raked in a pile.

I am a long deep breath carved by ice, A narrow blue path where mountains meet the sea. Cliffs rise beside me like silent walls, And water settles where the glacier once was. I am not a river, though I run through land, Nor simply an ocean, though salt fills my hand. What am I, so steep and so still in my place, A sea hidden between mountains and ice?

Sparkle and shine, Shimmer and whine, These are what makes this time of year divine!

I'm the stuff of the desert, and there I often storm. I make up most beaches, and am quite fascinating to look at under a microscope.
