Beyond the roads where strangers roam, I keep a secret far from home. Behind closed doors or beneath the trees, I offer shelter from prying eyes and wandering feet. No sign announces the place I keep, for silence is the promise I must keep. When danger draws near, I welcome the lost, a quiet refuge worth any cost. A fugitive may seek me when the world turns cold, or trusted friends may gather where their plans unfold. I am not a castle, nor a fortress tall, yet within my walls, one can escape it all. I hide in shadows, away from curious eyes, a secret retreat beneath ordinary skies. Though I may be humble, forgotten, or small, I become a sanctuary when trouble calls. What am I, the hidden place where someone can disappear from it all?
